Here is the last update of my magenta (untitled) painting next to my garden (both in the process of growing)
I thought It would be interesting to document the two works together, as they have been my two main projects, over the last 3 weeks or so.
Working on them simultaneously has soemtimes felt like I have been working on one project. I think working from home and having a close relationship with the contexts I am refercing ( my vernacular/ domestic/ "every day") and then working on my two projects certainly has created a very close, personal and intimate work.
My practice is trying to gauge the value of relationship, and in this context. the literal and metaphysical proximity of the projects in relation to my family, my home, the neighbourhood I have grown up in has felt really intimate.
It's quite interesting actually how the current climate of 'lockdown' has put an emphasis on the importance of supporting the local.
These works are the fruits of these circumstances, and contexts. I want to stress how I privileged I was to even conduct such lavish scale of a painting, and to be able to garden, even in rental, has been the biggest blessing.
Here are some details of the garden.
A sculptural looking spring onion which I am intending to save seeds.
Compost!! it has all our food scraps and horse poop and other garden material.
The broad beans are looking amazing!!
A close up of the magenta painting, or is this my garden?
