On the Figure in its field:
Within the painting, the figure seems to be in flux with its environment. Using painterly devices that deteriorate, rebuild and break down the figure, the figure sets into its environment in a non-hierarchal manner through its fragments.
Hence by dissolving the figure and ground I am interested in expressing the sensations of moving through my everyday in flux due to its ephemeral nature; neither figure nor environment takes dominion over the image, rather they collapse into each other.
This type of image is led by a 'compost' methodology in which I layer, break down the image(s), collate to regenerate a new image that is holistically equal to the sum of its parts.
A type of phrase one could use to describe the image is the 'Ecology of painting/ image'.
Hence my painting methods work closely with metaphoric ecological thinking in which the values of holistic thinking come into play.
