Reflections on my practice:

- The figuring body (+) - Why/ How we engage within/ through the body

- On reflection to my proposal, and ideas surrounding connectivity, Dieneke pointed out that she felt a real sense of the spatial that could emerge from my work, or that my work could adopt spatial recognition/ sensitvity.

- The figuring body within its figuring enviroment

The play on words regarding "The figuring body" -

- To figure into

- To figure (calculate)

- To physically figure/ disfigure

My engagement with specific photographs especially old photographs and thus the relevance of the ärchival, the document and the tapestry. Do these words strike meaning within my practice?

The viewpoint of the photographer. Who has taken the photographs in the past? Who takes pictures now? What happens when you draw imagery/ scenes/ motifs from the old and the present photographs within your paint. Am I having a conversation with these photographs? Is my perspective havign a conversation with my father's perspective. I feel loved. I feel like I can say things to him that I forgot to say. I was too young. Painting these photographs are a means to revive a forced forgotten past, open them up. Ask God to heal them. Celebrate life and its fragility.

My way of being in the world as a practice.
